Welcome Letter from the Principal
Dear St. Joseph School Parents, Patrons, and Prospective Families,
Welcome to St. Joseph Catholic School. It is my privilege to be working at such an outstanding school that emphasizes for your child academic excellence and a profound love of God in all aspects of learning.
At St. Joseph Catholic School the whole learner is addressed. Our diverse team of staff members is serious in guaranteeing you superior academic instruction that touches the mind, body, and spirit of your student. We begin with learning to appreciate ourselves made in the image and likeness of God. We assist your child in recognizing his/her own strengths and talents and ask how he/she can best take an active role in God's Ministry. All teachers at St. Joseph have been trained in Differentiated Instruction Strategies and incorporate the DI lessons frequently into their lessons.
Through a variety of volunteer service projects your child will strive to incorporate good works into daily living. Your child's faith spreads and expands throughout the total experience of each and every day, from religion class to participation in school masses. At St. Joseph's, all third through fifth graders have the wonderful opportunity to train as alter servers. The elements of our Catholic faith, God's word, and liturgical celebrations are interwoven within our school family and community.
Peer relationships are very important for your child. In our school we emphasize the need to respect and help one another as we work on our behavioral, social and study skills. Being a dishwasher, lunchroom helper or classroom helper is a way for your student to experience cooperation and learn patience. Activities like Student Council allow students to interact and collaborate in the decision-making process.
St. Joseph teachers will value your student as a thinker and honor his/her abilities, imagination and desire to learn. Your student will have opportunities to critically and constructively analyze issues, make decisions and evaluate results. He/she learns to appreciate others while feeling challenged to excel. Throughout the day your child is actively engaged in his/her own learning.
Technology is integrated in the curriculum. In today's world, technology is a part of everyday life. Every K-5 classroom at St. Joseph visits the computer lab at least once per week. We have a dedicated technology teacher and a strong curriculum that begins in Kindergarten and carries all the way to 5th grade. Each classroom is equipped with at least 3 computers while the teacher computer is hooked to a ceiling-mounted projector that enables whole group technology instruction. Each classroom teacher posts a weekly newsletter to our website to keep parents informed of classroom activities and deadlines. Technology is not just something we have, it's something we do and do well.
I invite you to visit and let your child experience the fun and warmth of a welcoming environment here at St. Joseph Catholic School. Please contact our school at (812) 385-2228 to schedule a visit to learn first hand what's in store for your child. You can also email me at lanquillare@evdio.org to learn more. I am more than happy to discuss the wonderful things St. Joseph Catholic School has to offer your child.
