Emily Abernathy
My name is Ms. Emily Abernathy. I am the fourth grade teacher at Saint Joseph
Catholic School. I am thrilled to be teaching here!
I grew up in Saint Wendel, Indiana not too far from Gibson County. I went to
elementary school at Saint Wendel Catholic School and am a parishioner there. After elementary school, I attended North Posey Junior High. From there, I continued on to North Posey High School and graduated in 2020. My college endeavors include a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education which I
earned at Purdue University in 2024. Boiler Up! During my time at Purdue I discovered how much I love helping students grow in confidence and academics. I am thankful for my time at Purdue where I was able to complete placements in many different schools. I am so excited to be back in Southern Indiana to kick off my teaching career.
When I am not in the classroom, you can find me playing pickleball, shopping, and
spending time with my friends and family. I have my mom, Laura, and dad, Lee, who
have been married for almost 30 years. I have two sisters, one older and one younger.
My older sister lives in Michigan with her husband and my younger sister is still in
college.
My classroom is built upon love, faith, compassion, respect, and hard work. My goal
is to create a safe, supportive environment where students feel encouraged to
explore, grow, and reach their full potential. I believe that all students have the
ability to learn – it is important to find the best approach to support their individual
growth.
I am happy to be a part of the Wildcat family! I look forward to learning with all of my
students and watching them grow in their life, faith, and academics.
