Kindergarten Class
Lauren Unfried

Hello!

My name is Lauren Unfried (pronounced un-freed) and I am thrilled to be teaching Kindergarten at St. Joe in Princeton. I recently finished Oakland City University’s Transition to Teaching program and was a Title I Aide at Owensville Community School for the last four years. Before entering elementary education, I started off my career as a college admissions counselor. After three years of working that job, I realized that an office job wasn’t what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. I’ve always enjoyed helping children and my mom has been a teacher for over 30 years. When I made the decision to change my career path, I started off as a substitute teacher and then became a Title I Aide. Working at a school has by far been the most rewarding job I’ve ever had and I’m very grateful to be a part of the St. Joe family.

I was born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago, but having family in Evansville brought me to attend USI for my Bachelor’s degree. During my time at USI I met my husband, who is from Haubstadt. I grew to love and appreciate the small-town lifestyle of Gibson County before we got engaged. When we got married, we chose to live in Fort Branch which is where we currently reside. We’ve been married for four years and have a son named Elliot who turns three in August. I have two younger brothers, Christien and Evan. Christien is a financial analyst in Los Angeles and Evan is an IT manager in Chicago. My dad works for Kawai Piano Co., which brought him and my mom to move from Chicago to Los Angeles about a year ago. I love to say that I have the best of both worlds since I live in a laid-back small town but get to visit the big city to see my family.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my friends and family. Some of my favorite hobbies include shopping, going for walks, doing yoga, swimming, cooking, and reading. I am a big fan of all things Disney, the Chicago Cubs, and the University of Notre Dame. I’m a coffee drinker and love to travel, especially to California and Florida. God has certainly blessed me in several ways!
